It draws on the training methods practiced by Dutch coach Wiel Coerver in the late 60s. In a general climate of defensive play, his idea was to improve the individual qualities to generate better offensive players and therefore a more exciting and efficient game. It was also then widely assumed that the great players of the game were innately gifted far beyond the capabilities of the average player. However, it was shown that most of the “1 v 1” moves and ball control skills of the best players can be isolated and taught to most, even the youngest players.

Since 1984, studying the movements of the best players, Coerver® Coaching has developed a comprehensive training program that encompasses all aspects of modern play. Coerver® Coaching is now present in Asia, the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and Africa, and it is commonly accepted as “The No1 Soccer Skills Teaching Method”, with an international network of camps and soccer schools, as well as educational DVDs, apps, books and trainings for coaches.
